The Challenge
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. Their work includes preventing and responding to gender-based violence in emergencies — an essential life-saving component of humanitarian action.
To support these efforts, UNICEF developed extensive content for a resource pack that humanitarians can use and refer to in the field. They came to RallyRally (now Briteweb) for help adapting 2,600 pages of technical content into print materials. The goal was to produce a toolkit that was useful and visually engaging.
The Insight
The kits created enabled the user to dive in on a particular topic. The content is now broken down into a guidance book that holds the bulk of resources, case studies, tools, learning modules, and an overview booklet.
The visual design elements were paired with images that portray women and children with dignity and resilience, in harmony with illustrative forms that are artful and optimistic. Distributed to UNICEF country offices and partners, the GBViE Resource Pack is a precedent-setting kit of practical tools for essential field workers worldwide.
